Preamble:
Many establishments  like hotels, conference centers hostels even jails  and yes non profits need a secure way to physically let the right people in and out of specific parts of the establishment and to EASILY add and rescind these privileges

History:
In 2015 KVMR moved ‘across the road’ and got a brand new building  and lock system made by Schlage so  Broadcasters were EACH  given an RFID “Fob” or  “Cards” to tap (touchles entry) on the door lock to let them in.
Volunteer coordinator managed the database of adding and removing folks & ‘fob programming’
there is a Windows 10 database and a ‘programmer’ and a Phone?Tablet to ‘take the data’ to the Doors.

WOES:
Mysteriously, the system was based on a Windows Phone which at that point was no longer ‘supported’
The sole windows device used when it started failing on 2022 was not replaceable. Schlage informed KVMR there was an Android System that could work to replace this.
As it turned out only CERTAIN Android Devices could even do this, IE ones WITHOUT a USB-C adapter. DIRECT USB-C Only!
Trail & Error!
After 3 separate device checks  and hours of Support Calls
KVMR owns some Samsung S9 tablets that proved after a huge array of updates, to Work, Intermittently.

Principle Woes:

• The Windows 10 Programming Application is cumbersome and counterintuitive
• Loading the  generated Data Files into the Android Tablet again  is  cumbersome, error prone and unreliable
• Windows Phone is the worst way to transfer Data off Windows
• The Lock’s Android App is ‘better’ and inevitable
• Programming is done using a special USB cable from the phone plugged into the lock. After 7 years, most of these USB sockets on the locks started failing. Also the Return Spring on the handle gets sloppy so the microswitch  that ‘tells’ the electronis the door was opened:

  Fails.

• Must manually raise the hands immediately after gettin a green light & opening door
• Spare are hard to come by/impossible

Conclusion:
DO NOT buy any more of this type of lock; Amazon still has then for $1500 or so each : ( Bad Design deep down. 
RESEARCH needed to find an alternative Economic Solution–
