xfinity scams

Several instances of Xfinity/Comcast “Commission  Scams” where Agent will upsell unwanted service and lie about costs

Case In Point:
– Customer calls up with some Issue about their Internet for example

– Customer is  somehow upsold “Xfinity Mobile” Cell Service and a
new number “Free”  without ANY indication the old number from existing company  will expire if not paid for, being told this is somehow ‘necessary’ to Fix whatever the Problem is
NO provision is made to Port the number
Enormous problems now 2FA codes have NOT known phone number to go to.
Loss of Email accounts, Netflix access, more…

– “Free” Apple Watch offered which in fact is part of a Paid 18 month Contract for the phone

– Told: “Senior Rate” for the Internet of $99 but it does NOT exist. There is in fact “Xfinity Now” 100MBPS for $30 a month for ANYONE

– When asked about how many devices are using the Internet rep will LIE that a Higher level of Service is require:
Streaming Services (Netflix, YouTube, Prime): 15–25 Mbps minimum
High-Quality HDR/Dolby Vision Streams: 25–50 Mbps per stream.

Power Out Spain and Portugal

April-28-2025,
Last day in Europe and returning via Madrid, Spain’s Capital.
I’de been here 4 days, worked out the metro swipe cards, maps,
the staccato Spanish, the food and late night entertainments after
museums – More snacks  and walking, humming  an average five miles a day also.
Last Airbnb on the 9th floor of an apartment a few miles SW of the Center. a regular Madrid family, three generations AND a toddler
who looks mystified at my slurred Spanish…
The airport is 12 miles away and the efficient metro system goes the whole way from her door with only 2 changes- Checkout: 12:00 pm as arranged, Board the Metro with my 10lb Yahoo! backpack and we are OFF!

T-mobile home internet

https://www.t-mobile.com/home-internet/eligibility
Internet using cell tower’s 5G connectivity up to 320Mbps.
Check your address at the link above.
You will receive a simple box that collects data from likely (?) a single cell tower (which can resolve issues of ‘contention;’ or over-usage,…
and puts it around your house as WiFi. About $55/month with ‘free’ reciever.
Trial usage available – 30 days?
not intended for ‘portable’ use or as a roaming ‘hotspot’- although is known to work that way!

This is DIFFERENT from a Hotspot as the data cap & speed are far higher,

starlink.com

https://www.starlink.com

This is Elon Musk’s low earth orbiting constellation of thousands of satellites.
To see if it’s available to you fill in your approximate address..
Then, To see then if it  can reach you where you live, get the App. from the site above onto your smartphone and use its camera to ‘look’ at the Sky- It will need at least a 100 degree clear sky view in a particular direction.
Not sure of the effects of trees leafing out later if you do this in Winter : )

Surprisingly easy to install, the base equipment as it is currently is a single small rectangular panel about 2′ x 3′ on a single pole.
You use the same App to Aim it.
You can pick up the ground station kit at Best Buy ot order it at the site, currently $600 as of post date and sometimes available refurbished for less – Speeds I have seen average 120MBps– Plenty.
Low Latency- comparable to Cable Internet,
IF you live ‘off grid’ it uses almost 100w of power in operation and more when de icing (!) but can be Turned On and Off with ease and even scheduled. Great design!

SCAM PAGE

Following are images of SCAM web pages that ‘jam’ your Browser: Chrome, Safari, Edge,  etc and MAC, PC LINUX, Android, iPad etc are all equally susceptible! Page LOOKS like you have a virus or something bad when you do not:

Your Anti Virus will not say anything. because a Web Page is NOT a Virus.

It proves  hard to close or exit the screen as the web page maker suruptiotiosly hides all the ‘close’  ‘minimize’  ‘exit’ buttons, etc..

NEVER call the number. NEVER answer unknown calls. NEVER click Any links at such pages NEVER respond in ANY way,
because that itself is the Scam.

Try the [Esc] Key. This MAY bring up Navigation buttons again so you can Exit.

MAC: Use [Command-Option-Esc] and KILL safari or Chrome of Firefox
PC: Use:: [Ctrl-Alt-Delete] to kill Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Etc.

These Pages show up in several ways:
a) the Pagemaker has lured Google into showing this result when searching for something innocuous. Often: the result itself is harmless but directs you to harmful page. Worse, NOT EVERY redirect happens and often it re directs 5-10 times AT RANDOM so it’s hard to report the result to Google, etc…
b) the page server you usually visit has been ‘invaded’ and itself compromised to show the page- your usual Weather or News page may suddenly show this!
